Alumni Awards
The nomination deadline for GAA Awards is January 31, 2010. Applications received or postmarked after January 31st will not be considered for this year’s competition. Awards are given in the following categories:
Nominees selected for the Achievement Hall of Fame, but who do not participate during the year of selection must be re-nominated in subsequent years to be considered for induction. Send information packet to:

Alumnus of the Year
Each year the General Alumni Association of Central State University recognizes an outstanding alumnus whose exemplary service or involvement over the past year has contributed to the advancement of Central State University, its students and community. The Central State University General Alumni Association has been in the forefront in promoting human welfare and the uplifting of the African-American community. The Association has made a commitment to carry the torch of our ancestors by carrying out the mission of the University and the execution of its programs. It is the goal of the General Alumni Association to recognize and reward the outstanding achievements of those in the community at large who have also made a commitment to improve the African-American community in areas of Educational Development, Economic Development, Political Empowerment, Philanthropic and International Development.
Annual awards will be given to individuals or organizations during the weekend of Homecoming. Selection of these individuals will be based on contributions and accomplishments made in any of the aforementioned areas that have had a widespread, beneficial impact within our communities, state or nation. Recipients must be financial members of the General Alumni Association.
Top Alumnus Contributor
Presented to a single alumni who donates the largest amount to the university in a single year.
Achievement Hall of Fame
In 1988, Central State University established the Achievement Hall of Fame to recognize the achievements of its alumni. Induction in the Hall recognizes an individual who demonstrates outstanding professional achievement, community contributions or service to the university, and has received an undergraduate degree or certificate in the past 10 years.
The induction ceremony is held annually on Charter Day. Selection is based on the following informaion that must be submitted by the deadline:
1. Biographical Facts
a. Employment History (title, responsibilities, etc.)
b. Education (advanced degrees, institutions, years, etc.)
c. Professional memberships/Affiliations, (offices held, committee service, etc.)
d. Honors/Awards/Recognitions
e. Community Service
2. Significant achievements or contribution of nominee
3. Publications, speeches, presentations, etc.
4. Other pertinent information
Deceased alumni whose contributions are worthy of consideration for this honor can be nominated.
Past Achievement Hall of Fame Honorees
Marauder Athletic Hall of Fame
The Central State University Marauder Athletic Hall of Fame was established in 1987 during the celebration of the University’s Centennial to recognize the outstanding athletic contributions of Central State graduates and coaches. Qualifications for induction are: An athlete (male or female) should have earned two letters in one intercollegiate sport or one letter in two or more sports since 1947. An athlete should have graduated at least five years prior to selection. A coach or athletic administrator should have served on the Central State University staff for a minimum of five years. The record of the nominee should be so outstanding that there is no question as to qualification for the Hall of Fame.
Nominations may be made by Central State alumni, faculty, staff and students, or by members of the news media or the general public. Only nominations received by the established deadlines will be considered for the current year, but nominations may be made at any time. Selection for induction will be from among qualified nominees each year. Selection will be by unanimous vote of the Marauder Athletic Hall of Fame committee as appointed by the President of the University. The committee may seek additional information on nominees by contacting former coaches and alumni and/or by consulting available records. Induction for the Hall of Fame will be conducted in conjunction with the Homecoming Celebration.
